As a Customer Design Engineer, you will design and model door systems, supporting both internal production and customer installation. During the project, you maintain technical contact with the customer and work with various technical and administrative systems. You plan your work independently and ensure the smooth running of projects.
Office
The working day in the office starts with going through emails to answer customer questions and to see if any updates have been sent about a project, or maybe even an invitation to the kick-off of a new project. You will then get down to drawing work, ranging from working out complete door systems to modelling specific components. During the day, the work alternates. Sometimes you check a colleague's drawings, other times you make adjustments in response to findings from production. Regularly, you will go to production to help with a problem or to provide support during the assembly of a new door system. To stay in good contact with colleagues, you will regularly have short meetings in the office or via Teams for project appointments or to discuss customer queries.
Business trip
As a Customer Design Engineer, you will also find yourself on business trips, mainly in Europe but given our growth, you may also travel to Asia and the United States in the future. It will happen about five times a year that you will travel. A business trip gives you a great opportunity to meet customers in person, strengthen cooperation and see up close how your own technical work comes to life in practice.
Before departure, you agree with the customer when you will be present where. Depending on the project, you will usually be with the customer for two to three days to supervise the installation or acceptance of an initial door system, for example. Before the trip starts, however, all the necessary arrangements need to be made - and you are largely responsible for this yourself. A business trip therefore requires good preparation, independence and a flexible attitude.
Should there be time left over, it offers a great opportunity to explore the area. Sometimes everything goes exactly to plan and you will not be at the client's premises all day. In that case, you often have a few hours left over that you can use to relax for a while, explore a city or have a nice dinner out. This makes a business trip not only interesting from a business point of view, but also personally enjoyable.
