Since its establishment in 1994, the company has built a solid reputation in laser cutting, sheet metal working, robotic welding and powder coating. Since its acquisition in 2021 by fellow townsman Ventura Systems, a global supplier of door systems for city buses, Metaal 2000 has been supplying all high-quality metal components for these door systems.

In 1994, founder Hayo Sternsdorff started the company Metaal 2000 in Bolsward. The company grew quickly and in 1999 Metaal 2000 moved to its current premises on the Marne. After the death of Hayo Sternsdorff in December 2006, wife Gineke Sternsdorff took over the management of the company. Until the takeover in 2021, the second generation was at the helm in the person of Bart Sternsdorff, together with managing director Jan Kok.
Our core business includes the production of door frames and drive and mounting parts for buses. For door frames, we perform various machining operations, including rolling, powder coating and assembly of aluminium profiles. In addition, we manufacture drive and assembly parts from steel, stainless steel and aluminium, applying a wide range of operations, including cutting, sawing, milling, turning, tapping, galvanising, welding, powder coating and assembly of composite products.
Every door system is unique so our operations also differ. As an order-driven company with all disciplines under one roof, we offer a total solution to our customer Ventura Systems. This requires a certain degree of complexity, but it also offers a challenge and variety that stimulates our employees to get the best out of themselves. On your first working day, you will receive a welcome package with a surprise so you can really get going. You will also receive a presentation about Ventura after a familiarisation period with several colleagues.
