Ventura Systems
– Technology Trainee

Are you stepping in for the vacancy Technology Trainee?

During your internship, you will work on a challenging and versatile assignment: exploring the possibilities for an improved error-indication layer on top of the existing algorithm.

Technology Trainee

What will you do?

Research the possibilities of a fault indication layer on a sensor-based algorithm.

Ventura designs and manufactures innovative door systems for public transport. Our doors can be found in buses worldwide. With our three main platforms (plug-sliding, rapid-sliding and inward-gliding doors), we can offer a suitable and tailor-made door solution for every customer.

Bus door systems need to be able to perform reliable for years in a dynamic environment as the system is exposed to a wide range of weather such as extreme cold to extreme warmth but also elements like ice, salt, wind, gravel and dust. Ventura has learned that good starting conditions are crucial for a long lifetime and minimal maintenance of a door system.

To ensure an optimal starting condition, Ventura developed a sensor-based solution that provides an objective, evidence-based assessment for door system installation. Based on this data, each door system can be optimally installed. This evidence-based solution and its underlying algorithm are already deployed within our internal production line. The algorithm compares each door system to a learned baseline and verifies whether it falls within the limits. If a door system deviates from these limits, mechanical adjustments should be made until the system meets the required standards.

However, the current solution does not yet identify the root cause of deviations. Since our goal is to support technicians during the installation process, an additional algorithm is required to provide a more detailed insight into where and how the door system deviates.

This assignment focuses on exploring the possibilities for an enhanced fault-indication layer built on top of the existing algorithm. Tasks include;

  • Research the possibilities to break down door movement cycle data into smaller chunks to extract hidden information.
  • Develop a demonstration prototype in software.
  • Provide an advisory report with recommendations for the future.

The assignment can be tailored based on your interest and motivation.
