Girls' Day at Ventura Systems!
During Girls’ Day, we welcomed four girls within our production departments. Girls’ Day is a national initiative that invites girls to learn about engineering, IT and STEM programmes. It is precisely in these sectors that women are still underrepresented, while the opportunities are varied and challenging.
The day started with putting on work shoes, followed by a short tour of our company. The girls then joined the Doors and Drives/Logistics departments, where they got a good idea of the work and processes on the shop floor. Employees explained and answered questions, making the technology tangible and understandable.
Although most girls indicated beforehand that they did not have a strong interest in a technical field, they were open to the experience. By seeing the work in practice, they discovered that engineering is more than the stereotypical image that sometimes exists.
We think it is important to contribute to initiatives such as Girls’ Day. It gives young people a chance to explore different fields without barriers and helps make technical professions more accessible and inclusive. We look back on a successful and inspiring day.
